I have found the perfect mystery
Love has a hold on me
Long before my life had come to be
Love had a hold on me
Love has a hold on me
Where do I come from
What does life mean
Is it not to know the one who made me
As I'm looking down the road ahead
Love has a hold on me
Someday when I breathe my dying breath
Love has a hold on me
Love has a hold on me
Where will I go
When this life is through
Back into the light that made me and you
Love has a hold on me
Something opened up my eyes to see
Love has a hold on me
Love has a hold on me
I don't have the answers to all of the questions
Running inside of my mind
But I can't help believe that
Understanding comes in time
Love has a hold on me
Something opened up my eyes to see
Love has a hold on me
Love has a hold on me
If I run, if I hide, I know inside of me
Your love has a hold on me
Tell me yes, tell me no, my heart will follow
Your love has a hold on me
Heather’s story ~
Award-winning Musician and successful Commercial Interior Designer turned Spiritual Director. B.S. in Environmental Design. Graduate Certificate in Spiritual Direction. Training in sales, writing, speaking, horseback riding, and even ballet and belly dancing! Very fulfilling careers helping people connect with God in Spiritual Direction Practice, Music Ministry, Youth Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Drug and Alcohol Recovery Program, National Teen Parents Ministry Committee Chairwoman, Public Speaker… and now Writer! Well-traveled, well-read, loves the outdoors, loves artistic projects. Heather has a fabulous family, exceptional friends, and awesome home. Married 28 years to an outstandingly dedicated and loving husband with one incredible daughter who’s even a Nation Champion horseback rider!
Then there’s:
Chronic-unrelenting pain, Chronic Fatigue, Fibro Myalgia, Migraines, Infertility, Major car accident, Depression. Fired, laid-off, let-go, unable to work for 18 years. Financial challenges, legal challenges, practical challenges, mental challenges. Anger, frustration, rebellion, isolation, recluse, semi- suicidal. Marriage challenges, rejected affair, lost friends, lost loves, lost pets, lost jobs, lost hopes, lost dreams, lost possessions, just plain lost, dazed, and confused! That’s the relinquishing-resume required to get Heather to slow down and hear God’s wee small voice!
Which Bio do you want to focus on? – That’s what Heather had to learn to choose!
Both Bio’s are equally true. Was she going to focus on the pain and struggle and live in the half-empty glass, or could she learn to dwell in the half-full portion?
Forty-nine years of life, love, tears, joys, problems, pains, frustrations, agonies, idiots, and awesome experiences. Wow, what a full life! Heather has learned that it isn’t about the accomplishments so much as it is about the journey. It’s not about what you’ve got, that tends to start strangling you with upkeep, insurances, storage issues, loss, and damages. Life is about what you’ve collected in priceless memories, and profound lessons, and irreplaceable people. It’s the soul you’ve claimed and formed and developed. The joy is in the journey and the discovery, and the choice to focus on that and not all the other accompanying frustrations, failures, hurts, and disillusions that are always there too.
All who wander are not lost. Most often we find ourselves somewhere amazing!
Heather shares the fruit of all this struggle and triumph in her book – God for Everyone. It is a very wholistic look at God, from a very wholistic person; the result of a whole lot of wrestling and resting with God.
Come along and see where it takes you!
